Woody song about the first US naval casualty of World War II - though the US were not formally at war at that time. The Reuben James was sunk by a U-boat 5 weeks before the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbour.

Nice job! I've had that song in my uke songs book for a long time but I never realized it was one of Woody's.

Thanks for the comment. I used to sing it with a friend at Thurso Folk Club in the North of Scotland back in the 60s. My friend had a book of Woody Songs so we sang a few.
