For those of you who have a Hawaiian-made uke and dream of being in Hawaii, digging your toes in the sand under a lacy tree while trade winds ruffle your hair...well, I can't help you get there.

Is this legit at all? Comments on some of the results pages indicate that it isn't. I know we have plenty of native Hawaiians on the forum, so I'm just curious.

However both versions of my hubby's name is very close to what I call my dog as a nickname, lol!

Here John is Noelani's name...it was not listed in that one because she has a traditional hawaiian name..You can find it here..http://www.alohafriendsluau.com/names_traditional.html

Heh, in Hawaiian, I have a Finnish man's name, if I used the shortened version. If I use the long version that my parents use, it's Kimipele. I mean, assuming that the name is even translatable and probably isn't. The two sites agree on Kimo, but disagree on Kimipeli versus Kimipele.

Mahalo for the links bruddah Stan. They don't got a pipikaula ribs recipe! I'm still experimenting by tweeking a recipe I found online but if someone got a good one, I'd game! Gotta luv that haupia. :)
 
Stan, that link you sent agrees with the Kimipele rather than Kimipeli. But for Kim, it gives yet another Finnish man's name, so in Hawaiian, I can have my choice of Finnish men's names. :D

(The two names being Kimo and Kimi, usually it's Kimmo in Finnish, but I have known a Kimo too.)

Both of those are too close to my least favorite nicknames, so maybe I'll stick with Kimipele! :D
