Not for nothing, but I think you did a pretty good job with the song. Perhaps the problem you're encountering in making the song sound right is the strum pattern?

Can't say for certain, because I've not actually heard the song, but I know when I try a new song and it doesn't come out properly it's almost always because my strum pattern, tempo, rhythm, and timing isn't right.
