Hello! I recently purchased a little djembe. It sounded fantastic originally, but after about a week it sounds dull. I don't know if it's just me, but the head sounds loose.

Obviously. I don't expect this to sound like a full sized hand crafted custom from Africa, but it used to sound better.

Here's the video (excuse my playing)

Any help or suggestions? Maybe how to retune?

Any feedback is appreciated. :)

Hey, your video link didn't work. Is it a rope-tuned djembe or does it have a synthetic head with lugs?

If it's a rope djembe, this site gives good tuning instructions:
http://www.djembes.org/tensari.htm

Or, if you live in an extremely dry, moist, hot, or cold climate that can affect the head. You may need to use a drum skin moisturizer or lightly take a hair dryer to it. There's plenty of websites to help with this kind of info.

If it has lugs, tighten them evenly around the circumference of the head so that if you tap with your finger you get the same sound no matter which one you tap near.
