Whats good about a radiused back?

It is protective against humidity changes and it is stronger so the wood can be thinner.
Brad, do you also "dome" the soundboard? Is the thickness of either top or back uniform or do they taper to a slightly thicker center?

If I arch my back I fall over.

I use a 15' radius dish for my backs and a 25' radius dish for my tops. The edges of my tops and backs are .1 - .2 mm thinner than the center. I can't really say whether the domed back helps the projection or not. There are too many variables in play, it is difficult to isolate just one.
