This is a tenor with Cardinal lacquer finsih. Finish regime is very simple; I use Allen McFarlen's grain filling technique after which:
This stuff cures really hard very quickly so don't leave it for weeks otherwise you will be forever trying to get that shine. Very important not to let it get hot when buffing either so reduce wheel time by using wet and dry to the finest grit you can buy - in my case 2500. You can use micro mesh but I find by going to 2500 I am about 10 minutes on the buff for the body and 5 minutes for the neck.
I'm sure our peers here will give a different regimen for using this lacquer - this is what works for me
- Day 1 spray 6 coats with a 25% reduction.
- Flat back with 800/1000 for a really flat matt ground to respray 6 coats day 2 with same reduction. Getting the surface flat and even is the secret to a good clear, ripple/orange peel free top coat and so less time final wet sanding.
- Day 3 cut back to 800 and leave for 3 days.
- Day 4 cut back to 2500 and leave for a day
- Day 5 buff out using polisher or by hand.
