I've noticed Martin made their tenors in a 12 fret to body then changed to a 14 fret to body. is one more desirable than the other? I assume the 14 fret is longer?

Yes Many prefer the 14 fret one...for players and collecters..

I have a 12 fret Martin tenor with Worth low non wound Low G and I think it is my best tenor. It sounds great!
