I just bought a white label Kamaka 8 string. Anyone else have one? if so, what strings do you like on it. I bought a set of Southcoast with the wound strings to have something to put on when it arrives. I used to have a 12 string guitar that I thought was pretty cool for certain songs, so I guess this is the uke version. I heard George hARRISON had one, but he probably had LOTS of instruments.Ididn't get it as a daily player, just to have a little variety.

You will love the Southcoast set . . . I have it on my 8 string (not a Kamaka) and separation and clarity is excellent.

You are right. they do sound great. The Kamaka 8 is fast becoming a favorite. very versatile. having low and high G in one package. I have it tuned down a half step, makes it a little easier to play.

I bought a new Kamaka 8-string in 2011 and it still has the original Kamaka strings on it, but I'll be reading this thread with great interest for when it comes time for me to replace the strings on my 8-string.
