View Full Version : Probably a Pointless Excercise

I have started making a new website to catalogue all of the brands of Ukulele I have seen or heard of, with some pictures and links to other site's. Itís still very much a work in progress and probably always will be. It may also be a pointless exercise but it helps with my Ukulele diet and might help people if they are trying to find information on a particular Brand of Ukulele.

Anyway it is here:-

And if anyone wants to correct anything Iíve said, add anything or send me better and more interesting pictures I will be very grateful. Especially if anyone can help me with the mysteries

I know I have put a link to it on the opening page - I have also sent him info for his database in the past which he graciously used, this all started with me saving up more info to send him but I needed something new to help with my diet and I thought I would include some pictures.

Great website!!! There are some amazing models on there.
Do you know Uke of Northumberland (http://www.theukesofnorthumberland.com/inst.htm)? Had my first encounter with them a week ago or two. Fantastic ukes.

Big undertaking! Nice job so far, and good luck!

Two ukulele makers I can think of that are not in your list:

Mya-Moe Ukuleles. http://www.myamoeukuleles.com/ There are lots of downloadable photos at the Mya-Moe website.

W. A. Wixom Ukuleles. http://www.wawixomukuleles.com/ Again, there are downloadable photos on the website.

While I normally don't try to notice or correct grammar and punctuation errors, I offer this reminder because your site is public and people often make credibility decisions on the basis of this stuff. When you form the plural of a word by adding the letter s, you typically do NOT use an apostrophe, so the plural of ukulele is "ukuleles," with no apostrophe. The word "ukulele's" (with an apostrophe) means "belonging to an ukulele." Good luck with your site!

Thanks for the feedback and suggestions

I had come across the Ray Cowell Ukulele on Hound dog music’s site and he is down on my list to investigate – Do you know if he calls his Ukuleles “Ray Caroll Ukuleles” or “Ukes of Northumberland Ukuleles”

I know Mya Moe, they too are on the list – if you look at Ukulele corner you will see there are a couple of Mya Moes that are on my wish list.

I had not come across Brad Donaldson or W.A Wixom before and have added both of them to the list.

Of course adding new pages has to take a back seat for the moment now as School teacher mds725 has pointed out my abuse of the English language put red marks across a lot of the pages with the comment go back and do again properly (and quite rightly too. I did learn this in school I should know better I’m slapping myself across the knuckles here)

On a more newsy note I have now been sent some photos of one of the prototype Ukulele Eastman Guitars have made and it really is very pretty I am just waiting to get permission to use it. Eastman (http://www.eastmanguitars.com/) make very nice looking Archtop Guitars and very nice looking Mandolins and tell me they will shortly be releasing Ukuleles

Lardy,
That's quite and undertaking, and I commend you on your efforts.
I would certainly welcome you including and referencing my work on your website and in your database.

Sure want to thank Lalou and Moobetta for their recommendations on this thread and others.
You can find a lot of information about my work on my new website at:
www.roberts-guitars.com

I tend to utilize my two Facebook pages as a blogging source for what I am up to and in the works.

I shall be adding a blog to the website in the next few weeks.

I am a seven year member of the Guild of American Luthiers, and past author and contributor to American Lutherie and Guitar Maker Magazines.
My instruments have been exhibited in the Museum of Contemporary Craft, been a featured artist on OPB's Art Beat television show, and voted "best of show" in the annual Oregon Wood workers Guild, and exhibited at the NW Handmade Instrument Makers Show for the past five years.

Thank you again for your interest, and if you have any questions, please contact me, and best regards for your website.
