I'm taking a beach vacation in May with some friends who are expecting to hear lots of ukulele noodling from me. :D

So my question is, where can I find chords for some "Hawaiian" tunes?

I'm terrible at memorizing music, generally read off printouts, but I'd love to prep & practice a few beach-friendly tunes to share.

Help?

I always like the old time favorites
Little Grass Shack
Pearly Shells
Blue Hawaii
My Hawaii
Tiny Bubbles
Hanalei Moon etc.
and more modern.. Molokai Slide...

One of the easiest Hawaiian songs to learn/play is E Huli Makou.

Na Palapalai sure does a pretty version, but you can keep it very simple and it still works.
Very simple melody, only three chords, and few lyrics to memorize.
Here is a PDF of the song sheet

You might try "On the Beach at Waikiki" also.

On the Beach At Waikiki
Words by Music by
G.H. Stover Henry Kalimai

F D7 G7
“Honi ka ua wikiwki,” sweet brown maiden said to me
            C7 G7 C7 G7 C7 F C#7 F C7
As she gave me language lessons on the beach at Waikiki.

F D7 G7
“Honi ka ua wikiwki,” she then said and smiled in glee,
             C7 G7 C7 G7 C7 F C#7 F C7
But she would not translate for me on the beach at Waikiki.

F D7 G7
“Honi ka ua wikiwki,” she repeated playfully;
               C7 G7 C7 G7 C7 F C#7 F C7
Oh those lips were so inviting on the beach at Waikiki.

F D7 G7
“Honi ka ua wikiwki,” she was surely teasing me,
        C7 G7 C7 G7 C7 F C#7 F C7
So I caught that maid and kissed her on the beach at Waikiki.

F D7 G7
“Honi ka ua wikiwki, you have learned it perfectly;
              C7 G7 C7 G7 C7 F C#7 F
Don’t forget what I have taught you,” on the beach at Waikiki.

Hahahha, Uncle Rod and I were thinking the same thing!

I had actually prepared my post, but then got called away at work. By the time I had posted it, Uncle Rod had already posted the same song.

GMTA!
