If that's the case, their marketing dept. probably tells them that customers who are amplifying like or need access to those upper frets. And why make models with only half of the expensive options when the same customers will pay for both.
I tried a few years ago to find an amplified "traditional" soprano - figure 8, one sound hole, no cutaway. They did not exist, I ended up buying a Pono concert with a pickup.
I totally noticed this a few weeks ago looking for an amplified monkeypod... doesnt make much sense sense. Maybe they figure the purists wouldnt want a pickup and just mic the sound hole instead??? lol
