After selling a few things on ebay, I went last night and picked up a used American Fender Highway One Stratocaster. Got a great deal. Took it home and played for about an hour. Buyers remorse set in. I realized that I prefer the acoustic sound. Good thing the shop I bought from allows a three day trial run. I returned it to the shop this morning. Being a new player, I asked one of the gentlemen that work there if he would play a few instruments for me so that I could listen. I had him play 4 Blueridge, 4 Seagulls, a Taylor and a Martin. The Taylor and the Martin were pushing the budget a little but doable. After listening to him, I picked the two that sounded the best to my ears. A Blueridge BG-40 and a Taylor that I forget the model number. I sat down and played both and decided to pick the Blueridge. I just liked the way it sounded better. No I did not play any high dollar guitars because I knew they were out of my price range. After getting home, I did a little research and found that the BG-40 was modeled after a National guitar made by Gibson. It has that old time look to it. It was not the best looking guitar to me but it was the best sounding. I decided I had better let my ears do the deciding. After playing it a little this afternoon, I am glad I returned the Strat. Sorry for the quality of pics. Now if I can just find a buyer for all my fly tying stuff, I am starting a fund for another guitar. Don't tell anyone but right now I prefer playing guitar over the uke.
