Ok. I'm playing my new Mainland Tenor for about two-three weeks now and it is a superb instrument. However, I'm feeling the Aquila strings, which added so much to the Dolphin, are not bringing the very best out of the mahogany Mainland.
I have SouthCoast clear strings on a baritone, and I don't like the slacker tension though the sound is superb. (Cuatro strings.)
I'd love to hear (as in hear samples or hear stories) from anyone with a similar tenor, either Mainland or at least mahogany, and what strings work for you. I'm thinking Worth Clears, but I'd like some info.
I feel sad to take these Aquilas off as they were a fine choice but the sharpness of the sound I think overshoots the mellow tone hidden inside my tenor. Ideas?
