I'm looking for an affordable custom uke right now. Mike Pereira of MP Ukulele seems to make a good instrument (according to the forum reviews) at a very attractive price. Any other builders you like who make no frills customs at a cost of ~$500 give or take a few hundred? Pohaku ukuleles also look great, but are a few hundred more expensive.

Duane @Black Bear Ukes if you're looking for Soprano or Concert, but I don't think he customizes.

I have a madagascar rosewood spruce top concert for 800 from Mike Pereirra ...it has a real nice sound....

A very basic custom Boat Paddle 12-fret is close to that price.
