I bought a mandolin a few months back, got all the basics down then just left it to gather dust for a while, now I want to pick it back up and progress but I really need some books or websites to help as I don't know anyone else who plays this lovely instrument. Any advice? Thanks :D

If you have any interest in starting to learn more by ear, check out the Toneway Project. They cover several instruments (including mandolin) and singing. I just ran across this over the weekend and I learned some of the songs in their free online workshop on uke, banjo, and guitar. It seems to be a very intuitive way of learning. Here is the free video workshop:

After going through this I ordered a book and cd.

Do you have any favoured mandolins players or styles? I found just trying to learn to play tunes I like got me to progress - and using it to write/augment songs is a good way to learn, if uou're into that?

Dan :)
