Is Makai MC-70 crappy??

Have any of you own and played the Makai MC-70 Concert Sized Solid Spruce top? I need suggestion and recommendation on the piece.

I'm in a dilemma of getting that or the Lanikai LU-21C concert sized laminate mahogany. Which should i pick? Please guide me.

I haven't played an MC-70 but own an MT-70, and I think it's a very nice uke for the price. I also have an LU-21C and think the Makai is a much better sounding instrument due to the solid spruce top. But I like my Lanikai too and being laminate I don't have to take as much care with it, and tend to take it with me more often.

I have the MC-70 and think it's a great instrument. Nicely made, feels really solid, and an excellent value. When mine arrived, it came strung with Aquilas and I did not like it at all and hardly picked it up. I switched to Martin's and love the sound of it so much better now. I primarily fingerpick, but it sounds great both picked and strummed with the Martins.
