I just have to share this with you, I'm so pleased and amazed - I got my lovely new vintage Slingerland (my first and only banjo -ukulele) the other week and have been fiddling about getting it playable - removed and fixed a slipping tuner, thanks to you folks on the forum, got the tailpiece strung right (ditto), new aquila strings - but the sound was still jangly, dissonant somehow and not nice, even though tuned up properly. I know the nut still needs attention. Well - got the resonator off and stuffed it with a bath sponge - better...... then - wait for it - I read somewhere (I think it was Dennis Taylor's pages) to polish it inside and out, so I just did - pure beeswax balsam inside the body and on the dowel stick. And suddenly it's just singing! Absolutely unbelievable!
