On holiday at the moment, so taking a break from my blog, but had to share this.

Yesterday I visited the Casa-Museo Del Timple in the Canary Islands - a museum dedicated to an early Spanish relation to the ukulele, the Timple (not to be confused with the Tiple, another relation, but different)

Great to go around the museum, even better to see the room full of the "family" - instruments related to the uke, and to see a Koaloha Concert on display with a credit to Alvin Okami.

What the heck, I bought a Timple too - why not!

Yes, a friend of mine here in Spain plays the "Timple Canario", it is so similar to the uke! I find the whole story of how the uke came to be in Hawai via Portuguese immigrants etc... absolutely fascinating!
