still playable if its darn near fretless?

just curious whether anyone has played a uke with little to no frets (fretless), no reason other than it popped into my head.

If the neck is perfect you can play with extremely low frets. I have a friend with a Strat guitar that the frets have been resurfaced so many times they are barely bumps on the fretboard. Sounds great when he plays it. Sounds like poop when I do (not that the latter has anything to do with the frets).
