looking for a uke stand i can put my tenor on next to a chair when i'm not playing it instead of putting it in the case.

any suggestions?

thanks

The Cooperstand pro mini stand Stan recommended is great if you want a portable stand to take with you when you play your ukulele somewhere other than where you usually keep it. I have one and it is really portable, and yet it's also stable.

I have the Cooperstand and the Kala stand. The Cooperstand is beautiful but my ukulele has tipped over in it. The kala stand isn't as nice, but truth be told -- works better. And it's way cheaper.

Aloha Sukie: Which Kala stand do you have?

I am also in need of a stand. But i was leaning towards the Cooperstand. But if, in your experience, the Kala hasn't tipped over as much as the Cooper, then i would consider the Kala. I play my ukulele while sitting on the couch, and keep the open case nearby. A stand would be much better.

Thanks

I am a fan of hanging stands, but they are not as compact as the cooperstand or the Kala. I like the Kala the most since I have left it in the rain with no damage (UWC) and it is really small and easy to assemble. I just ordered 10 to use at uke jams for all the review ukes I bring for people to play. that is my 2 cents

This is the one I have. If I had known they'd be so hard to find I would have bought them all. It can hold all but the smallest soprano. It folds up small enough to fit in the zipper pouch of my Tenor gig bag.

When I'm not going places, it sits within reach of me on the floor next to my desk.

I have both the Orca and Kala mini stand's both work well and are portable.
I also have the Orca clip that attaches to a music or mic stand, the ukulele hangs well from it.

I have this hercules guitar stand... http://www.herculesstands.com/guitars/GS414B.html the uke bangs on the metal brace at the bottom because the instrument is too short to reach the padded legs. so i took a couple of towels and a little tape and voila.... instant uke stand for free... :--) but portable it ain't.... i like the idea of having a stand to take places and would fit in the tenor hard case. do you folks with the kanikai think it would fit in the case? i've never seen one. the cooper looks really nice and also nicely made but i don't need something that falls over with an instrument that was as pricey as my koa ana ole. took me too long to save for it and i cringe even at the thought. but having something to travel with and could fit in the case would be great. thanks for all the suggestions....

does anybody know where to see a video of the lanikai wood stand? i'd be interested in something that fit in the hard case of my tenor.

thanks

Another vote for the Kala stand. Easy to assemble, inexpensive and small. I think it looks pretty good too - simple design.

I have several of these Kala stands: http://elderly.com/accessories/items/KUS1.htm. They work great and are inexpensive. They fold fairly flat, so I carry one in my bag with my song books. I also have one of these: http://elderly.com/accessories/items/ST20.htm, but I don't use it as much. And I have one of these hung on a lamp in the living room: http://elderly.com/accessories/items/FCH.htm. Honestly, that's the one I use the most at home (other than maybe the Kala next to the computer desk, which ALWAYS has my Flea in it).
