When I originally purchased my Eleuke (eh, t'anks Mim!) I wanted to be able to practice quietly in the house without disturbing my boyfriend while he did his homework. It does a great job doing this and I am grateful.

What I didn't predict was how much fun it was going to be taking the Eleuke out and being able to practice *anywhere* without disturbing other people.

For example:

1. I took it to the optometrist's office and practiced while I was getting my eyes dilated.

2. I took it to an Indian casino and practiced while my mother spent my inheritance. (Seriously, we take her to a casino every couple of months because she enjoys playing. However, we can't afford to lose money when we are saving for our next `ukuleles so I practice instead of gambling.)

3. I took it to a hotel and played late at night/early in the morning when my boyfriend said that the KPK was too loud. (Yes, two people traveling with four `ukuleles.)

4. I took it to a coffee shop and practiced while I was waiting for my brother to show up.

Does anyone else have an Eleuke story?

I don't have an Eleuke story -- or an Eleuke -- YET, but if you keep posting stuff like this it's only a matter of time! Sounds even quieter than my knitting. And that Peanut is adorable...

I don't know that anyone here would think it's strange that two people were travelling with four 'ukuleles.

No but I did change to friction tuners on my Peanut and we are both happier for it :)

No...but thanks for reminding me! I better go give them both a hug and strum, my rosewood concert is rather independant but the Peanut seems to get its feelings hurt if I don't pay enough attention to it.

Yep! I love my Eleuke (another MIM purchase here) and it's great for when the other half is busy working in the other room as I can jam almost silently. Or if she's not home I can plug into my amp, crank the distortion and bang out some hard rock tunes to annoy the neighbours! Haha!

I never bother with using headphones as it's got just enough volume unplugged. Plus my strumming always hits the volume knob, turning up full and deafening me through them.

I usually play mine so that I can quietly practice while DH is on the computer playing video games with friends. But I've also played it while riding shot gun on road trips, which makes it so much more bearable! The kids can watch their movies, DH can listen to his audiobooks, and I can practice!

I love love my Peanut for all the reasons previously mentioned. I got it so I could practice quietly while the hubby and I are watching TV, and it's great for that. I take it to my ukulele group's Beginner's Lessons and Jams, so I can practice stuff while people are talking and playing other things. You know, those times where if you're playing, about 8 people turn around and glare at you to Please Be Quiet! The Peanut solves that problem. And, only I can hear my mistakes. My favorite use was on the Marta train in Atlanta, and, on the plane during the flight home. I bothered no one except myself.

I think we should have a 'weirdest use for a hard-body electric ukulele (ok, Peanut)' contest. Winner gets.... bragging rights. That should be worth something.

I don't know about "weirdest use" but I think reading other people's stories about where they play their Eleukes gives me new ideas about where I can squeeze in a little more practice time. Life is so busy, time is too expensive to waste.

I play my Peanut (thx Mim) in the car during my daughter's dance classes. A little rockin' out in the parking lot helps pass the time.
