I use to send a fair number of guitars to the USA but since the GFC that market has gone the way of most peoples disposable income.
But lately I've been getting quite a few inquires from that side of the Pacific about ukuleles, and 2 weeks ago I sent a concert uke off to San Francisco via Australia / US post. Just the regular air mail service. There's all kinds of up selling services to help them part you with extra money, but I've found that none of them provide any better service to speed of delivery.
They tell you it will be 7 - 10 business days for the regular service, which I'm always suspect of. But at less than 1/2 the price of the premium service it's really the way to go unless the client has money to burn.
Dropped off on Saturday morning here and customer had it Friday there.
To say I was shocked and amazed is an understatement. I really don't expect that sort of time frame even anywhere within Australia.
