when filing the groove on the nut on the fret board do you use different size files for each G C E A string since the diameter of each string is different( one thinner or fatter ) ?

i ask because i can see on my custom tangi that the nut was filed down according to the size(diameter) of the string. so the sound is great.

but i have another ukulele and it seems all 4 grooves on the nut are the axact same size. (maybe the cause of the vibration string buzzing)

thanks in advance.

What Chuck said. Too narrow and the fatter strings will get pinched making tuning more difficult. Too wide, especially at the fret board side can cause a sitar like buzz.

however this should only cause buzzing when the string is played open or unfretted.
