I have some plastic tuners with ugly lines where they left the mold. What is the proper way to remove them? If I start with too coarse a grit I'll be at it for ever.

I use fingernail buffers. The 4 way kind. The last grit isn't really a grit but a polisher. If I were to name a grit, it would probably be in the thousands range.

I use 2400 micro mesh wet on a firm pad, but 400 wet and dry will work too. Then I take it to the buffing wheel with medium compound. Because the plastic is soft, the heat from the buffing wheel will finish it off nicely. Watch the speed on the buffer however, too much heat will drag the plastic..

If the tuners are original to a vintage collector uke, you don't want to remove those molding lines. It's important for collector ukes to be as original as possible.
