Ukulele and the Punk Revolution

The idea of ukulele, kids and punk makes for an interesting combination. There is a musical movement spreading through Indonesia. It’s a punk revolution led mostly by street kids, who mainly use ukuleles to spread their message of change. Click here to find out more.

That's an interesting article, and I'm of two minds about it. On the one hand, music for positive change, kids playing and singing songs with an edge to them, that's a kid after my own heart.

But if tourists pay them, then will the street life become more attractive than going to school? Is the money better spent funding schools and community centers... I don't know the situation there at all, maybe that's the positive change they're singing about, for all I know. I hope their futures get brighter.
