Pickup installation question

I just bought a uk2000 pickup, and noticed that the part that goes under the saddle is longer than the saddle itself.

Q:

-Should I cut it to fit, or should I just let the leftover part hang inside the body of the uke?

-There's a plastic cover on most of the part that goes under the saddle, it jut leaves the last bit (about 1cm/ .5 inch) uncovered. Should I remove it or does it belong there?

Don't cut it, what ever you do. roll it up and secure it so it will not buzz

As Ukeeku said. Loop the excess into a small 1inch or so loop and you can cable tie them together. You want to avoid the loose part from touching the soundboard or you may get buzzing.

Would it be a good idea to put isolation tape over the part inside the body?
