Does anybody have any recent sales data on a 20's 5K in any condition. I have one that I would like to buy then send out and have restored but I was wondering what they are trading at.

If its cheaper to buy a already restored one I might go that route but I I have yet to see actual sales values. Lots of speculation but not to many hard facts.

Restoration costs will be in 2K range on the one I have found and they are guessing 8 months total time due to the finish.

I'd contact Brian Hefferan at Elderly Music and ask. From what I saw of his collection at a workshop I took and him being in the business, I think he'd be the first person I'd look to. I know he works there.

Mandolin Bros. (http://www.mandoweb.com/14_Ukes.htm) in New York has a 1922 5K in great shape. Close to $11,000 though.

Yeah I know, I have about 9K put aside and would rather have a fresh restoration for that price. Realistic I should be able to get one for that I think.

I have seen some kind of bad ones go for 3-4.5K needing a full restoration. I don't mind the wait.
