I'm going to buy a wound low g string for my tenor and noticed that I can also buy a set with both the g and the c string wound.
What are your experiences with these two options, will the wound c string complement the sound of the strings, or should I just go for the wound g?

I don't like a wound G by itself, it's too different from the others in tonality. But with wound G&C, it seems like it would be more balanced sounding, like how a classical guitar has wound basses and plain trebles.

3 0 in favor of the g wound and c wound, it looks like the only g wound is losing this battle. Thanks all for your input.

It's really a question of balance across all four strings. Thats where the Southcoast G650 Linear set excels. I find the wound G and C adds a lot of nice sustain. Really depends on the sound you're looking for.

The Southcoast G650 set with flat wound basses is an amazing set of real smoothness and balance. The fullness of sound I got with these was remarkable.
