Nice to see that uke in its natural environment, Doug. Sounding sweet, too.

You can be very proud of that ukulele, it looks wonderful. I'm a fan of pineapple ukes and I would like to built one too, but I guess my fingers are all thumbs for that.

Great playing, and your homegrown build approach is an inspiration.

I remember driving around LA after the big windstorms last year (?) watching city crews chopping up and hauling away 100s of mature trees to the landfill...eucalyptus, sycamore, and who knows what else and thinking that someone should be filling their shed with boards of windfall tonewood..thanks for sharing.

If you really wanted to feel a connection you would have strung that uke with the gut of a squirrel who lived there, too ;)

Great playing and a great story. Keep smiling!

Thanks, guys, I'm having a great time building these things. And be assured, no trees were harmed in the making of this video (I use only dead wood). :) And Pootsie, although I didn't use squirrel gut, I was considering using fresh water clam shell for the inlay, but there's just nothing like abalone.
