Any of you guys ever used kamani wood to build with. If so, how do you rate it for an instrument wood? The job I am presently on, the owners have dropped three good size trees. At the end of my work day I am over there like a mad fiend with my chainsaw cutting nice slabs. Cant believe what people so easily discard.

I don't know why the kamani tree doesn't have more value. I've never worked with it but my neighbor builds a lot of ukes from kamani. It's rather boring in it's appearance (reddish in color) but I think it's an excellent tonewood and works (and bends) very well. Locally it's also used as flooring and cabinet work. It's a score if you can get your hands on some.
