Hey everyone, nice to meet you...

Does anyone know what the deal is with the Kala Archtop model that comes in a natural wood finish... as opposed to the sunburst or black model? Searching the Net, all I find is http://www.kaboodle.com/reviews/classic-f-hole-mahogany-archtop-ukulele-by-kala-newest.

It looks great, I think. But the review indicates that only 5 were made... is that right? It seems pretty rare, given that I can't find much about them ... were they discontinued?

I just found http://cgi.ebay.com/NATURAL-MAHOGANY-KALA-JAZZ-F-HOLE-A-E-TENOR-UKULELE_W0QQitemZ330279028943QQihZ014QQcategoryZ16 224QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742.m153.l1262.

So these archtops 100% mahogany? The suburst and black models have a spruce top, I believe. I found one other spot on the web that indicate it's an all-solid instrument with satin finish as opposed to the high-gloss finish mentioned on MGM's listing. Maybe there's another model, as well (or misinformation)?

I think I'll be receiving one of these next week. I bought the sunburst model last Saturday at a local shop (East Village Music in NYC http://www.evmnyc.com -- good Kala selection, if you're local). I love the timbre of it and played it at an unplugged gig that night... sounded great. However, I started to notice some intonation issues over the next couple days. It wasn't so bad up to about the fifth fret, but I couldn't live with the knowledge that I'd dropped a couple hundred dollars on something untunable. Last night I brought it back to the shop to see if there was anything that could be done and it was decided that it should just be replaced. The shop owner got his Kala distributor on the phone and they offered me a choice between the sunburst or the black finish for the replacement. I asked if they had the natural wood model and, yeah, they did... can't wait to see it in person. Hopefully, its pitch is a little more true than the other one.

The best thing to do is call MGM. His number is on his ebay page. http://stores.ebay.com/Musicguymics-Room
