That's awesome.

Mr Nilsen is a national treasure over here. He is a friend of Pete Seeger and has been a champion singer/songwriter in Norway for close to 50 years. He plays all kinds of stringed instruments, primarily guitar and banjo - and the uke. The song they played in Oslo and other Norwegian cities today was one of Seeger's, translated by Nilsen. The original 1970s Norwegian cover version remains one of the biggest-selling records in Norway EVER. Music and art is the only way to fight the warped set of values put forward by that hideous killer who came out of nowhere last summer to create such suffering and horror. I guess he could be executed, but that would not really make us any better. Stooping to his level is something to be avoided at all costs.

I heard that on our public radio this morning and thought i heard a uke. I didn't know it was a Seeger song but was aware it was a sort of Norwegian standard. Such a great event. More. Everywhere.
