I've been seeing a lot of stuff about like "the intonation was bad, so I lowered the action" (bad example XD) and to me I'm just like... "yeah I have no idea XD"

so I have a bunch of questions.

How does the action affect the uke?

what defines "intonation"?

why do different string tensions matter?

and why do people always talk about having a uke "Set up" for them?

I'm not sure this belongs here, but I would like to be able to talk about this kind of thing to fellow ukers XD

You'll get lots of helpful responses, here are some basics:
Action: string height above frets. Lower=easier to play, too low=buzz. Too high=notes go sharp.
Intonation: note you are playing is producing correct frequency (I.e in tune)
Tension: different string gauges used to try to get consistent tension among strings
Set-up: great suppliers/resellers, many on this forum, take the time to ensure frets are level, no buzz, string height correct, intonation as good as instrument will allow. Your instrument will play to the top of its (and your) ability.
