"Echo Uke" device

For some reason it reminds me of the little thing Lloyd Loar put in his mandolins

It's just adding some additional "High Q" resonators. They would likely work kind of like sympathetic strings...within a very narrow frequency/note band.

The device in the Loar F-5s was a "Virzi Tone Producer", and the jury is still out on those things. Apparently some of the classical mando players like them; the Bluegrassers hate them because they soften the attack and bark that is so desired.
