Just thought I would share my thoughts on this Purflex stuff.
I just finished my second uke with the purflex strips and purfling and have to say that I really like the stuff. There is a bit of a learning curve and I would not recommend it to an unseasoned builder, but it sure is pretty stuff. The last few blog postings I did show the process more in depth if anyone wants more pics and details, you can see them at http://www.devineguitars.com/guitar-ukulele-blog/.

I thought I'd just have a quick 5 minute look at your site Eric. Now, 1 hour later, I'm late for work!

You owe me a Uke' ;)

Beautiful as all your builds are.................

gorgeous.. thanks for sharing that. All of your photos look great too, nice work.

On the purflex website it shows them gently heating the uncured epoxy with a hair dryer to release the bubbles.
Yes, a combination of heating and vibration pulls out most of the air bubbles. You usually have to do a little spot filling after the main fill.
