All of the seasons contests have required a single take with no overdubs... I'm more than cool with this one veering from that trend, but I wanted to make sure what your intentions were.

Windy day at the summer house by the lake in my jump suit and wellies.
Bad singing, worse playing, but you can't beat Finland in Spring.
Just thought I would get the ball rolling.

That was all a bit slap-dash... just played off the top of my head.
This is my REAL entry.

Mother was a song written by John Lennon whilst he was undergoing Primal scream
therapy at Arthur Janov's clinic.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Primal_therapy

Primal therapy became very influential during a brief period in the early 1970s,
after the publication of Janov's first book, The Primal Scream. It inspired hundreds
of spin-off clinics worldwide and served as an inspiration for many popular cultural icons.
John Lennon, actor James Earl Jones and pianist Roger Williams were prominent advocates
of primal therapy.

Since Lennon lost his mother at an early age, and was also abandoned by his father,
these experiences form the basis of the song. At the end of the song Lennon indulges in
some primal screaming, which can be very un-nerving the first time you hear it because
he seems to be genuinely expressing very primitive emotions of pain at the loss of
his mother and anger for being abandoned by his father.

Here is my version with only a couple of lines of screaming.

hope the week improves Dave. This was a really lovely performance actually mate, very moving...such an intense song and my guess is that it was a good match for your mood when you sang it. Have vivid memories of this as a 17 and 18 year old when we were all listening to Floyd, it was one of the first songs I ever learnt on guitar so the lyrics are etched in my brain. Enjoyed it a lot brother, thanks.

Thanks as ever Jon for your continued support :) it means a great deal to get feedback from our uke icons :) it was the first time i actually ever had to force myself to play the uke, as it is playing up i found it very distracting and also it was quite emotional for me to sing a mom song. Hoping to get a bruko no6 soon fingers crossed.
Was debating to do a kazoo solo in the middle as dave gilmores solos in this song are some of my faves, but i couldnt really figure anything out so thought i would stick to the trusty strummin . thanks for your encouragement :)

good thing you didn't go with the kazoo mate, would have wrecked the mood of it. Don't think that one needs anything but simple strumming and singing. The tone of the lyric says all that needs to be said. Sorry of the sadness of losing your mum, I dread that day too Dave, my mum will be 80 this year...wow, how did that happen. As for the Bruko...an excellent choice I reckon. I had a #6 and still regret letting it go. Light and bright, superbly built...I love em. Thanks, Freeda, for keeping the Seasons going! Got a chance to catch up on this week's entries today. Oh mama, it's a great week so far.

Some comments for my Seasonists...

@ReaderMo - Sweet one. Lovely picking, heart felt singing, great stuff. Gracias.

@thesillydave - Thanks for bringing some country this week, cowboy Dave. Nice one.

@eugene ukulele - Ah, that bouncing "bass line", so smooth, so sweet---love it. And such a sweet song, so sweetly sung. Way to break up it up by stopping the uke whenever you feel like it and belting it out. Great. Gracias, Jon.

@peewee - Wildly stylish outfit; a terrifying doll; performing in "gender-face"; I was hooked before you started singing. And the performance---eeeeewwwwwwww. Yes. Yes. Yes. Muchas gracias.

@ukuleledaddy - Nice. Sweet, soft singing and playing. A heart felt song choice and performance. And nice whistling, sir. See you Tuesday!

@ukuleledaveey - Sad and sweet, Dave. Scary. I missed Pink Floyd somehow---maybe because "Another Brick In The Wall" terrified me when I was a child. I'm slowly learning to appreciate their scary, psychedelic vibe. Thanks for helping me along on the trip.

Alright. Not my best effort, but it was all I had time to put together... I did go with Paul Simon, but not Mother and Child reunion.

That Was Your Mother, off of Graceland. Two chords makes it easier to bang out. Plus a chance to work in the 11th season blues uke!

As a bonus, that b/w picture on the wall is of my mother and father, way back in the day.

Nice one, Matt! Way to find a great song that works for you. You've got a sweet, simple version here---and I love it when you break it down to just rhythm and melody. Great idea to get some mouth trumpet practice before Ukulele Ike week gets going, too.

thanks for the Kudos, that is all I got left after yesterday's game.

Bad tactics talking Mueller off and replacing him with a centre-back but at 1-0 up I guess Bayer wanted to shut up shop. Too bad Drogba had other ideas.

Even though Bayer pressed and pressed Robben and Ribbery were just so intent on going for glory that they kinda forgot that Gomez was always in there waiting for them to pass the ball, but it never came.

17 or more corners to Bayer and no goals. One corner for Chelsea and Drogba scores. You just did not get the rub of the green.

And then on to the penalty shoot out. Bastian did a Terry by hitting the post and then it was left to Drogba to slot it home and give Chelsea the win.

It could not have felt worse than letting in two in the last minutes against Manchester United.

I feel your pain.
