I only caught this by accident this morning so apologies for the late posting of this.
Book of the week on Radio 4 this week is "The Uke of Wallington". It's about a bloke who goes on a tour of Open Mic nights with his Ukulele and I gather it is based on true events. Page on Radio 4 website here http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b006qftk where you can listen on iPlayer.
It is unfortunately read by Hugh Dennis who is a bit bland for my liking but it's entertaining nevertheless.

Book also available from Amazon here http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Uke-Wallington-Mark/dp/0749572736

Oh, it's on Radio 4 at 9.45 a.m with a repeat at half past midnight
Cheers,
Ian.

just kindled it now, thanx GrumpyOldMan

Thanks Ian, sounds great. Off to check the links now... :)

Nice easy read - something along the lines of 'Around Ireland with a fridge'. In reality it's really a guide to walking in some of the most beautiful parts of the UK interspersed with some open mic experiences along the way. As I said in my blog http://theukeshed.com it's all a bit too close to home for me and I might just take off with my bus pass one of these days.......

I hope they never make a film of it like the did with RIWAF. The film of RIWAF was on BBC4 a few weeks back and I told everyone I knew how great it was going to be as it was one of the funniest books I had ever read. I had to go round the next day apologising to everyone as it was the most disastrous film adaptation ever, LOL.

Ian.
