I just tried to install a wound high G string on my Baritone Uke. I am experimenting with various possibilities...
Anyway I got the strings from Guadelupe and they seem quite nice...it tuned to low G quite readily but when advancing to the higher Octave, around "B" the string broke...now...it occurs to me that there are two possibilities...one is that this was a setup that was never going to be...the other was that perhaps I wound the string up too quickly, doing just as I have for fluorocarbon strings. Does one have to wait a bit and wind more slowly with Uke wound strings? I have never had this happen with guitar strings, but thought perhaps there were differences due to scale length with Uke strings?
I will contact the manufacturer but thought I would search for collective wisdom here too! Thanks for any insights you might have.
