Greetings and salutations!

Maybe it's a silly question, but I was wondering.. I know you can use the D string out of a classical set and use it as a wound G, but would it be possible to use any of the wound classical strings for a wound C?

Thanks in advance,
Ben

No question is silly around here. What is the scale length.? Each string length has a tension, measured in pounds, which varies with the type of ukulele. Soprano, Concert, Tenor and Baritone. You will have so much fun fun fun figuring it all out. We are all here to help. Classical Savarez and LaBella and D'Addario and and and. Lots for you to decide.

Disclaimer: I've never tried it, but I'm going to hazard a guess and say no.

The classical D is the thinnest of the wound strings. It may work for a G, but I doubt it can take the amount of tension needed to get it up to a C above G. And if it could, it might be enough to pull the bridge off or cause the top to cave.

Southcoast also offers linear sets with both would C and G.
