I'm thinking of maybe building my own ukulele and I was wondering where I would buy the wood and stuff for one I'm looking for maple spruce and mahogany don't know if there's website or some that's sells all that and I don't really want to use a kit

And this Is my first one so would it be to advanced to put binding on it if not where do I buy binding

Thanks

Personally I wouldn't recommend buying wood from woodcraft unless you have a way of re sawing the wood yourself and you can select the wood yourself in an outlet store. Ukulele wood is reasonably prices since it is so small. The best place to buy wood is from a place or person that deals in instrument wood.

Luthier's mercantile would be my first choice because they also offer joining and thicknessing services if you don't have a thickness sander.

Old world tonewood just started offering uke tops for 5-7.50 a top.
I recently received an order and bought a few uke tops. Excellent quality wood. They are also planning on selling some of their Euro mable that comes from Romania. I haven't seen any prices but I am sure it will be resonable.

RC also carries uke wood and mahogany neck blanks

Tons of stuff on e-bay!

Good luck!

I would recommend this kit (set of woods, complete to build a tenor ukulele).

With this kit (89$ + shipping), you only need to buy the tuner and the strings. It will take quite a lot of works to build it, but it is convenient as you do not have to buy pieces separately which will most likely cost more.
I built one from this kit, and have learned a lots (from mistakes !!!).
That's the only uke I own and play at this time.
There will be a lot of challenges if this is your very first instrument build but folks on this forum are very willing to provide guidance whenever you need.
