View Full Version : Which strings?

I got a Lanakai tenor for my nephew's graduation.
This one:

I know he is going to want to switch it to low g.
It presently has Aquilas on it and the sound is rather muted.
Any suggestions on which low g set to get so it can sing?

If your nephew isn't opposed to wound strings, I suggest the Southcoast G650 round-wound linear set. I put them on my tenor a couple of weeks ago, and they keep getting better and better. Very nice balance, and the trebles are clear, articulate, but still kind of sweet. These strings seem to take a little longer to reach their potential, but once they do they sound great.

I like Worth Browns more than clears, but that's just me.
