A difficult question to post from someone who has never played a cutaway. My question is, does the cutaway have any impact on the right hand when fingerpicking, especially on a concert? Mahalo
None at all. It's for fret access for the fretting hand.
That said, I've never seen the point of uke cutaways aside from aesthetics. On a jumbo guitar, sure, the cutaway does create space, but a uke is already so small I've never had an issue reaching high frets on non cutaway ukes
Great question. Since reading the original post I've started watching where I place the fingers on the body of the ukulele when I use them to anchor the hand while picking. So far, I think I wouldn't have any problem with a cutaway, but it seems possible. I'll be watching this thread.
