Cinderellalifestyle,
This is totally magic! One of the very best I've seen on UU. Lovely technique, superb vocal, just a wonderful performance.

Yes - you should be at position 11, just ahead of Eugene Ukulele's "The Ballad of the Blue Tail Fly"

jetpack ! you are my heroes! great entry! or entries! tiger tiger! thanks for joining in!! hope to see y'all in future seasons!

haha we are glad that you liked it sillydave. We couldn't decide what song to do so we did a "ukulele medley" of our favorite animal songs. It was an absolute blast to do. And the only one take idea really helped becuase we treated it as a live performance and that made it more easy going and fun instead of trying to perfect everything. Thanks for having us.

uke4ia we have been really busy. We had some work things shuffle around causing availabilities to change and we also did a small stint on jtv that we are trying to get back to as well as writing new songs so we can go play out. We are really glad to be back though. How have you been?

Laurie... what a story... were you the one who wore tight stretch denim jeans :-)
I just love your unique style of playing. That Harmony looks like it has been well
and truly spanked over the years, but you are able to pull sounds out of it that
I have never heard from any other baritone Uke, and your voice just is pure
Americana... sweet as apple pie.

So glad you made it over here, and that original song surely deserves bonus points.
That's a winner in my book.

Thank you kind Sir --it was you who got me here!
Not sure of the proper means to reply back, and yes, you may quote me on this....'twas my Mom in tight jeans...she had a beehive hairdo, which added to the effect.....my brain took that mental snapshot...and that rooster ran for his life!! We were lucky not to have lost an eye to that rascal...
....must get a better camera vid someday, or film outdoors...not lazy just quite busy...on a Uke Roll....there is one more ONE more on the way shortly, dates back a couple months, now. Think that makes 4 now..time to dust off a lonely cigar box guitar or two...:-)

This is our favorite song in the competition. Amazing playing and so different and interesting that we were engaged the whole time. Would you mind if we played that one ourselves? It would never be as good as you, but we would try hard because it is wonderful. Also I think bonus points for having the song from your father on Father's Day seems fair. Great work.

So that's the trick. Gee...if I'd learned that earlier I might have had grandkids by now! :)

John (who actually has almost a dozen grandkids IRL)

Oh - and PS - great playing! Based on the style and those fingernails I'm guessing you've spent a fair amount of time behind a classical guitar...

I honestly can't believe it - what a fabulous idea - I think I've gained a lot in the process, and what's more, I've put some time into learning a song, and that sure can't be bad eh!
Hope you enjoy the video, in all honesty it was nerve-wracking making my way through it and my heart has only just stopped racing, but right now there's a big smile on my face. Thanks to everyone who arranged the contest, and all the other folks making music and making videos and adding joy to this here world of ours.

But Christian my man ooohhhthe gloves are off lol singing our footie song and changing the lyrics (though you are right we are pooh ) but if we face you, you never know, as long as it doesnt go to penalties, i think spain are going to be tough to beat, i am secretly supporting germany, well i was till you sang that blasphemous version of 3 lions :) lol

H Davey,
I cannot believe someone actually endured it to the end- at least I did not make it "3 pints down my shirt..."!
England is definitely a force to be reckoned with this time around and, looking at the CHelsea game, looks like we are about out of penalty luck- cannot wait to face the Lions- if you could dispose of the SPaniards for us, that would be much appreciated. I don;t think they are all that good this time, hard to say, since Ireland is so pitiful.

Yeah im not looking forward to facing spain, but would be sweet to put them out bit of revenge for fabregas :) anyway good luck to Deutschland i am am barracking for them as well especially as my faves have crashed out (holland) a lot of the so called big nations are very poor this time round, but makes it even more interesting. I think Germany have a very good chance, and especially with a couple of gooners in the squad :)
See you over in season 18 and hopefully we make it through in the euros to, all the best mate :)

Hey thanks very much Dave.
I'm pretty excited - it feels good to have moved beyond my comfort zone, and wow ... doing a video in one take is an earth-shattering change in my life. It means you have to let go of being a perfectionist -prepare yourself as best you can, then Just Do It, as they say. Entering this contest has changed me, and I am particularly thrilled to have had the incentive to work on a great song. Thanks for all your effort - and yes, I'll be looking to enter another UU contest :)

But that is the way things always go for the Scots, but we have fans on par with the Irish.

Can't believe I placed amid such robust competition woo-hoo!....
Congrats to the winners, especially the new entrants who swept the top spots.
Thanks Silly Dave and to Mountain Sprout for giving up some of your valuable beard-growing time to take on the task of judging.

I thank you and the dead pigeons thank you.

Wow. Beaten by a bunch of noobies. And I can't be mad about it because they deserved it.
But at least I beat mattydee, and that's the important thing. :P

Seriously matty, good job. A great new take on a classic song.

cinderellalifestyle, I've loved that song as long as I can remember and it always makes me smile. You made that song your own.

Lee brothers, as I said before, that was totally awesome! I can't stop watching it and I grin ear to ear every time.

Too many other great entries to mention which means this week was a rousing success. Thanks to Dave and all the judges for making it happen.

Did you see Buffon pointing to the corner where Ashley should kick.
Talk about sending out subliminal messages.

I am so disappointed I so much wanted England to loose on penalties
to Germany :old:

If you had a whole squad of Andy Carrolls you might do OK. I don't currently follow the Premier League at all so he is new to me.
Amazed they held the Italians goal-less all that time... And Davey, c'mon, the seasons wouldn't be half as fun without you.

Yeah Rangers are in a bad way and the National team gets trounced 5-0 by the USA

I was sorry to see England go out, with the two Ashleys to blame for missing penelties.
However the audacity of Pirlo’s penalty in the shoot-out, where he chipped the ball over
goalkeeper Joe Hart, was worthy of winning the game for Italy.

The stats speak for themselves Italy 33 shots on goal England 8... for some ridiculous
reason that gave me some hope since I thought the Italians had left there shooting boots
at home and England would be in with a chance, but it was the same old same old, exiting
on penalties... must have happened 5 times now in major competions.

Upwards and onwards the the World cup

:agree: yep pirlo's penalty was something else, he was cool as a cucumber the whole game and he dominated. England are in a sorry state. I dont see how we can turn things round, we just dont produce players of the same class as other european nations, maybe the queen could fund a academy ????????:biglaugh:
I hope scotland make the world cup as they have great support, i remember going to David O'Leary's testimonal back in the 80's they played Celtic, i couldnt believe how many fans they brought down, they filled the whole clock end and then some.
Anyway good luck for qualifying for the world cup, also heard Rangers are trying to buy into a english club, i may have the wrong team, but it is someone like Bury, but it is just media talk, so may be no truth in it, have a good week mate, and you never know the grumpy scottish fellow may win Wimbledon :)
