I've been playing acoustic ukulele for about a year now and I'm thinking of buying an electric but I'm confused as to where to start and I need some clarification on a few things.

First off is there a difference in the sound between models like the eleuke which look like mini electric guitars and an acoustic model with a pickup system or does that depend on your amp settings?

Also with amps can you use a guitar amp? and if so does it matter whether it's for electric or acoustic guitar?

Could really use the help!

There is a huge difference between a pickup in a standard Ukulele and a solid bodied Uke. Amp counts too...and I am not positive, but I think an acoustic amp will work with a solid bodied Eluke.
Here is an Eluke in very accomplished hands http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jk2aIziF7Es
Here's an amplified hollow bodied Uke (also accomplished hands) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q8_9sBSVMpE
Standard Uke has a lot more sustain, is richer at all parts of the spectrum, and sounds a lot more traditional to my ears. It should be noted that the Uke in the second video is far more expensive than the one in the first. Sorry I could not embed the video- forum, won't let me
