Anybody tried the Kamoa M-1 EQ/Preamp?

Has anybody tried the M-1 EQ/Preamp that Kamoa installs in their ukuleles? Looking at getting one of their ukes and there's scant information on their website (or the web in general) about the pickup.... wondering if it's worth the $100 upgrade or if I'd be better off buying and installing my own.....
