View Full Version : Can anyone assist in identifying this antique?

So I was in a local guitar shop in town that I haven't been in for a while, and I noticed this beat up banjolele hanging away in a corner. I asked the owner about it, he said he really didn't know much about it beyond the fact that he's been carrying it around for about 30 years. He got it all those years ago, enjoyed it, and just kept it around ever since.

He'd really like to know more about it. So far I think I've narrowed it down to about the 20s-30s era (bar frets are the giveaway here, along with the general state of it) with more modern tuners, an extremely beat up head and an open metal casing make it difficult to pin down. If the casing wasn't open metal I'd be sure it would be a Gretsch or Clarophone, but I haven't been able to find one like it.

Any help would be appreciated!
