Hi all,

At work we have a guitar to play along songs for the children, but my guitar skills are zero.
I'm looking for a way to mute the bottom two strings (can't take them of without a big fight with my co-workers) so I can play uke songs (with a capo at the fifth fret). Muting with my hand isn't working out for me.
Is there a simple solution for this?

I wedged a bit of foam between the two on my guitar. Works well enough if I don't strum too hard.

Clothespins? Large paperclips? You simply stop the vibration. Foam, sponge (a large kitchen sponge, wedged between 5 and 6 strings)?

You can probably detune the strings until they are totally slack.

stick a wad of paper towels under the first fret and by the bridge

I was gonna say foam but ask around among the kids. Get yourself a big ole wad of gum! And it's recycleable!
