Hi guys, just thought i'd share mine, shes a soprano i got off amazon for £20. The engraving i did the other day and have filled it with white paint to help it stand out. The strings have been changed from the factory ones to aquila and the action i believe its called has been lowered.
The case i made within a week of getting the uke, it's laminated marine ply for the sides and beading. Covered with tweed with blackboard paint on the bottom (very usefull) and bright pink on the top. Fits the uke in snugly with a compartment underneath to hold chalk and rubber etc, one pocket for tuner, capo, pencil, and yes that other one is for a pipe of mine.

I can't see the attachments in the first post -- and the second post has me really curious about them!

I spy evidence of juggling as well.
What's up with the chalkboard? Busking?
Can you tell us how you made the case?

Thanks for sharing the results.

Haha, well i can do a little juggling, have just started after having done fire eating and spitting for a number of years.
Well the chalkboard is for busking potentially when i'm a bit better and to write myself notes on. Also as i'm going to sandhurst and then army i thought i could use it to write my unit details on it for when i take it with me on tour.

The case has a base of 10mm MDF which i cut out into the shape i wanted. The sides are made of two halves each moulded around the shape of the base but in a thick mould so i could laminate two thin bits of plywood together. These were then nailed to the base.
Inside it is insulation foam which i cut out into the desired shapes with a craft knife and then filed down.
On the outside i found some tartan fabric and glued it to the sides, covering up the edges with the thin plywood boarder which has been waxed with beeswax to give it a shine.
The lid is again some thin ply which along with the foam cutouts has been felted.
The lid is not on hinges but just comes loose as i had no hinges i could use. So i found an old handbag and cut off the straps and riveted them onto the side of the box with the buckles on the opposite side so i can strap the lid down. The handle is just a strip of leather i cut off the bag and riveted on.

The top is bright pink enamel spray which we had left over from something, just makes it more distinctive and i suppose mit put others off stealing it :p

I hope that makes sense, it wasn't too difficult, the cutting out of the foam took the longest oput of everything.
