Last weekend we were playing at a park downtown. A woman came up and sat down and listed for quite awhile. She requested a few songs, which we knew. She came up and thanked us for the "concert" and said it made her day and how blessed she was.
During the conversation it came out that she was between stage 3 and 4 of ovarian cancer, and was undergoing chemo. It really put things in perspective for me.
You can get so caught up in stuff that you forget to enjoy what you have. It brought tears to my eyes. I spent the entire day at the park just enjoying being with my wife, sitting in the sun with a cool breeze and a ukulele in hand, being much more appreciative of what I had.
