I came across this baritone uke and am a little unclear of the maker. Can anyone help me with the history? The website on the label no longer works. Here is the label and headstock photos. It is a Koa uke. Stamped May 15, 2006 inside above the label. Kinda looks lika a solid top with koa laminate sides. Construction is okay but not perfect. This one is probably a second as it looks like someone spilled some darker stain on the top whch ran down the front a tad before it was laquered. It gives it a distinct birthmark which I kind of like.

I'm curious to see what the whole ukulele looks like. Can you post a full-ukulele photo? Unfortunately, I have no insight on its creator.

I have a concert uke that has a D&D label inside but the top block inside is signed the maker "Andrea Okada" I believe it says. I think that the D&D refers to Daniel and Doris who own a small uke shop in Lahaina, Maui. Mine is heavy and seems to be all Koa. It has no signs on the front to show the maker but a wave pattern at the top of the headstock. Just what I wanted. I'd asked for plain. It sounds great. The neck is more rounded then many but works well with my recovering wrist breaks. I don't know if that helps you.

I thought maybe it was a Dungeons and Dragons ukulele.

ME TOO! I got all excited, thinking that perhaps it was a Bard-themed build... :)

Check this old thread for more info.

Readingg the old threads I see MGM said:

bodies usually have some evenless or slight deformaty due to change in humidity.

which reminded me that my Nice uke has cracked in a couple of places on the body top. Still plays well though.

The instrument in question is made in the Philippines and finished in Hawaii. It was rebranded "Nice" by Ed Bacali. D & D started selling the same instruments under their name a couple of years ago. The dead give away is the headstock's unique shape.

Yes the shop is Doris and Daniel on Maui....I think it was on Front Street in Lahaina.. rebranded like Kanaka916 said
You can get his ukes too at the swap meet in honolulu at Aloha Stadium and save even more money..

Thanks folks. I think you pretty well covered it. It fits the bill for a six string baritone tuned dgbe that I wanted. Here are some more snaps.

Here's a nice D & D 8 String Tenor for sale here in Los Angeles (Woodland Hills)

Aloha,
I have 2 Nice ukes purchased from Ed at the Aloha Stadium Swap Meet. Both are concerts, 1 Mango, and 1 Koa.
They look and sound good though maybe overbuilt, but for the price, I jumped on it................

I also have an 8 string from Ed Bacani. It is overbuilt, projection is not loud (works when I'm playing alone) and very bright AFAIC. The soundhole on the model I have is shaped like a mountain apple which makes it quite unique. I don't know when they went to the round soundholes. I'll try to get an image posted.

My first Mango had an oval soundhole. Gave this away when I bought the second Mango which has a somewhat oblonged round hole, and my Koa has a standard round soundhole.
@Danny, I seen one with the Mountain Apple Shaped hole, even before Koalaoha's Musubi hole................BO..............
Found a pix ...............
